Coaching seminar in Bitburg – football training with fresh ideas

On Friday, 23 October 2026, JFV Bitburg hosted an exciting and varied coaching seminar with Peter Schreiner. From 5 to 8 pm, the 30 participating coaches received valuable ideas and practical insights into modern training methods in youth football.

The seminar focused on three topics:

  1. Perception training and two-footedness in football
  2. Practical demonstration with the U15 of FC Bitburg
  3. Using three-zone rondos effectively

1. Perception training and two-footedness in football

The first theory session covered the importance of perception, fast information processing and deliberate training of both feet for a player's development.

In football, fractions of a second often make the difference: players who perceive space, team-mates and opponents before receiving the ball gain time – and make better decisions under pressure. Peter Schreiner showed how scanning and pre-orientation can be trained deliberately – not in isolation, but as part of drills and games with the ball.

Closely linked to this is two-footedness. It is not about using both feet equally often, but about choosing the technically and tactically right foot in every situation – even under time and opponent pressure. Players who perceive early can decide on the right foot in time.

2. Practical demonstration with the U15 of FC Bitburg

The content was then demonstrated on the pitch with the U15 players of FC Bitburg. The focus was on putting the training principles into practice – including two-footedness drills: left-left-right-right, partner exercises and taking the ball forwards, backwards and diagonally. The coaches saw straight away how the theory can be transferred to their own club training without much effort.

3. Using three-zone rondos effectively

To finish, Peter Schreiner explained in the second theory session how three-zone rondos can be used purposefully in training. Rondos are much more than a warm-up game: set up correctly, they teach principles such as playing with an overload, forming triangles and opening passing lanes – developing game intelligence and resistance to pressing. Peter Schreiner showed what matters from an attacking point of view so that players can apply it in matches.
